WOOD COUNTRY COUPLE CELEBRATE ANNIVERSAYMr. and Mrs. Kurrelmeyer Entertained A Host of Relatives and Friends Last Thursday.1 On .Thursday, Sept. 17, 1914, about fifty people, including children, grandchildren, neighbors and friends, of Mr. and Mrs. Bernhardt Kurrelmeyer of Wood, Iowa,- gathered at their home to help them celebrate their fiftieth wedding anniversary.The date would have been December 8, but as their daughter Wilhelmina must go back to her school work next week at Atlanta, Georgia, and all the children wished to be present, they arranged the celebration at this time. Besides Miss Wilhelmina, their son Henry of Colesburg, and the two daughters, Mrs. Anna Moser and Mrs. Emma Miller, both of Strawberry Point,--MB'- * *j Iowa; their husbands and 11 grandchildren were present. One grandson Clarence Moser, could not be present.It was a very happy occasion and after a bountious dinner several songs I were ksung after which Rev. Schlung, their pastor»made a short address and presented the happy old couple with a roll of $^0.00 in gold, silver and paper money, a gift of their children and friends. To this Mr. Kurrelmeyer re-1 sponded with a few remarks, giving testimony of God’s goodness and mercy to them in their long journey in life and thanking his friends for their kindnesses. Mr. Herman Wessel, an old | friend and acquaintance, also made a short, interesting speech and after several hours of friendly social visiting ail went home feeling that they had had a very enjoyable day.I In the evening about thirty-five young people met to give Miss Wilhelmina Kurrelmeyer a farewell party. It was a surprise on her but she took it good naturedly and proved herself a splendid host. Miss Kurrelmeyer goes back to her school work under the auspices of the Home Missionary Society among the colored people of the south. She has been in this work in Atlapta, Georgia, for the past seven years with much success and all her friends wish her God’s speed for the future and a long happy life.
