DerringerRoy and Ethel Derringer were honored at a family celebration Sept. 2 with an outdoor dinner.They will have been married 64 years on Dee. 28.They were married at Matoaka in 1926.Mr. Derringer recently celebrated his 81st birthday on Aug. 17, and Mrs. Derringer was 77 on March 13.Mr. Derringer is retired from the coal mines, also having worked on the railroad for many years.He was a deacon at the Clifftop Missionary Baptist Church for 25 years.He also helped lay the mine track for the opening of the Beck-ley Exhibition Coal Mine in Beckley.Mrs. Derringer has aided many societies and donated much of her life to helping needy people.Mr and Mrs. Roy DerringerThey are the parents of seven sons, two being deceased. They have 17 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. They have lived at Beaver for the past 39 years.The celebration was attended by 50 people.
