Defense Lawyer Awaited Here inGambling CasesAlthough today was set for hearings under a continuance granted when Loren A. Thieroff appealed his case, the hearings of five other men charged with gambling after a raid on the, Fifth Street Recreation club in the basement of the Lianos Brothers poolroom, were not held before Mayor Joe C. Krutsch.Solicitor W. C. Rivers was seeking to contact Otto W. Hess of Napoleon, attorney for the defendants. who was said to be in Bryan. !The men who have not yet had their hearings are George Snider. Gret Switzer, Glen Steele and Wilbur Steele, charged with gambling, and Nick Lianos. charged with permitting gambling.Everett Faulk previously had pleaded guilty and was fined $10 and costs.ThierofT recently lost in his effort to get into common pleas j court on error when Judge D. F. j Openlander overruled his motion. Thieroff was found guilty in mayor's court and was fined $50 and $57.90 costs and given 60 days in Toledo workhouse.Execution of the sentence has not been carried out since Judge Openlander’s ruling.
