An Outrageous Attempt Upon a Girl'sHonor.♦Miss Lulu McConnell, of Cross Keys, employed as a chambermaid, at the Hotel Yoder, at noon Sunday caused a warrant to be issued for the arrest of Earl W. Burgess on the very serious charge of assault with intent to rape. Burgess is a member or the dramatic company that Ailed an engagement at the City Opera House last week. The alleged attempt took place in a room at the Y Oder. Miss McConuSirs story Is to the effect that Burgess pulled her into a room, locked the door and taking hold of her made an improper proposal, and then forced her upon the bed, where he attempted to accomplish his purpose; that she resisted his efforts, when he placed a gag over her mouth, and continued his attempt but without success. Miss McConnell stated that m the straggle for her honor she broke the chain on the watch which he carried but was prevented from calling for help Dy tbe gag over her mouth, although she tried to do so, and in the struggle her clothing was torn. Miss McConnell was found in tears by one of the other girls and to her related the story of the assault. Mrs. C. B, Yoder when informed of the affair took steps looking to the arrest of Burgess. Marshal EUsperman left last evening for ( Marysville, where the company is to play this week, armed with a warrant for the arrest of Burgess. A telegram from the officer this afternoon stated that he had his man in custody. !
