MAYERS - James E., 78, Treasure Lake, passed away Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at his home. Born Aug. 28, 1931, inson of the late Ravmond andKathryn (Sanker) Mayers. He was retired and had attended St.Francis College. Member of St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, DuBois Rotarv Club, board of the council of Human Dignity at St. Michael’s Terrace and the board of Goodwill Industries. He enjoyed his grandchildren, golfing and woodworking. And. oh boy, could the man tell a joke. Mr. Mayers was a veteran, having served in the U.S. Navy. Survived by his wife, Helen (Zedlar) Mayers, whom he married on Nov. 26, 1953, in Portage; sons, James R. Mayers, DuBois; Mark F. Mayers, and wife, Rosemary, Hillsboro, Ore.; and Mike R. Mayers, and wife, Lisa, Rockton; and daughters, Kim (Ferraccio) Chester, Leechburg; and Nikki Mayers, Oakmont. Also survived by six grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Preceded in death by his parents and sisters, Helen-Rave Saunders and*Barbara Nell Rose. At the request of Mr. Mayers, there will be no public visitation. A Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 11 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 24, at St. Michael The Archangel Roman Catholic Church, the Rev. Father V. David Foradori, officiating.
