Flees In Automobilepf i«r mwmmJMGunman Thwarted In Grocery Holdup; Woman, 60, Calls ‘Bluff’ Of BanditA determined store - keeper, I counter for a .38-caliber weap-Mrs. Ida Hampton, 60,1451 Ham-1 on, which became, caught in the iiton-Richmond Road, thwarted holster as she attempted to with-on armed holdup at her store,Hampton's Market, 200 Park Ave., at 12:29 p. m. Thursday.Mrs. Hampton told Detectives Sam Duley and Robert Norton a man entered her store and asked for a package of cigarettes which she got for him. He produced a small-caliber weapon and said “this is a stickup ’ Give me your money.”Mrs. Hampton told the bandit she wouldn’t give him the money and she reached under thedraw it.She said by the time she got the weapon out of the holster and up toward the man he said, “You wouldn't shoot me.'' and Mrs. Hampton said she informed him she would.The bandit pushed the woman toward the door and t h e couple wrestled over Mil Hampton’s revolver at the front of the store during which time Mrs. Hampton suffered bruises, and abrasions about the face,neck, shoulder and left wrist. The man pushed the woman out of the door as he attempted to get away and he wrestled iier pistol away from her and ran northward on N. C St.He fled in an automobile parked at the alley between Park and Wayne Aves.The bandit was described as in his 30s, 150 pounds and 5 feet 3 inches. His hair was black and he was wearing a yellow sports shirt and dark trousers. At least two persons saw the bandit run northward on N.
