Leavitt celebrated their golden wedding anniversary at their home in the north part of town Saturday evening, September 10.An informal reception was held from 7 to 10 o’clock during which period many friends called to offer congratu-I ! lations and best wishes.f I The house was attractively decor-II ated with a profusion of green boughs and cut flowers of many varities, Mr.'and Mrs. Leavitt received their 1 friends in an alcove at the end of the living room which has been transformed into a vertible bower, where i the “bride and groom” presented a | fine appearance as they happily greet-I ed their friends.Assisting in receiving the guests were Mrs. A. J. Faucett and Mrs. John R. McGannon. Througho\jt the receiving hours refreshments of ice t cream, cake and coffee were served in * the dining room by Mrs. Herbert Leavitt, Misses Raynore and Elizabeth Harris, Julia Faucett, Mrs. Charles Laughlin and Mrs. Frank Leavitt.During the evening the guests were entertained on the lawn by a motion picture entertainment provided by J. A. Faucett. The occasion was a delightful one to every one present.Mr. and Mrs. Leavitt are among the most highly respected citizens of Bloomfield and have resided here during all of their married life. They are both loyal members of the Presbyterian church and Mr. Leavitt has long been an officer of the church | and active in all its affairs, i They have four children and ten t grandchildren, all of whom were [ present at the wedding anniversary 'with the exception if one grandson, Linley Leavitt, who is now in Cal-fornia.Their marriage took place in this city fifty years ago at the Home of the bride’s parents, the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Wilke, who then resided in a house which stood near the Sargent home.
