BOLS1BB81 Mftfftttdlt. The Brigade reunion, which was held at old camp Fuller, Rockford, was well attended by the old soldiers Of the four regiments, 74tb, 92th, 95th, and 96th, which were id camp together 30 years ago. What changes 30 years will make cannot be realised in advance. Many of the soldiers that attended the reunion of 8ept. 5,6 and 7,1892, were seen strolling over the old camp ground, (with feeble step and upon crotches,) that were 30 years ago doing duty as soldiers and preparingfor the fierce conflict which was to coite, and in Which many fell. While there were maby things to cause sad recollections, there were many pleasant ones. Your correspondent, with many others took the train at Crystal Lake at 9:40, and prooseded to Rockford via Harvard and Caladonia, arriving at Rockford about noon. As per orders we proceeded at once to G. A. R. Hall where tie representatives from each regiment in the brigade were convened. After the hand shaking and registering were gone through with, the order was given each regiment to fall in and march to camp, the 74th leading and the others in their order. And when the drum and fife was sgaia heard by the old boys in the streets of Rockford, where 30 years ago they had marched to the same music, ’ it thrilled many a heart and carried their raiuds back 30 years to the time we marched up the same street to the same camp, but under very different circumstances. Many of the old commands were given On the march to camp, but rather poorly executed, and Major Loop made the bold assertion that we did not know as much as we did 30 years ago. Still we all got there just the same, (we mean to camp.) When we arrived in camp and broke ranks dinner was announced, which was provided by the W.R. C., and as everyone acquainted with W. R. C. knows it was first class, as they never make a failure of anything they undertake. And every G. A. R. Post ought to have aW.B.0, to succeed well cm a post. And this brings to my mind- -a verse I have heard oner of the comrades of our post repeat. ’As a ship without ■ MU,As a boat without an ear,As i kite without a tail,So is a post without a corps. After dinner the business meeting of each regiment was held and a committee from each regiment appointed to confer together and consider the advisability of organizing a brigade association. The committee met and the Brigade association was organized and the time set for holding the next reunion, which is to be Sept. 4th, 1895, at Camp Fuller. The people of Rockford did themselves credit for the manner in which they entertained the veterans, and every old soldier present appreciated, as only they can, the provisions that were made for their comfort and pleasure while in camp and we believe that everyone will agree with us in saying we had a grand time at the brigade reunion held at Rockford, Sept. 5, 6 and 7, 1892.Ouu Soldier
