The Ames home in Wooster where she grew up with her two sisters (both deceased) and her late parents now is a bed and breakfast, Gasche. When Dr. Ames and her family lived there it was the only house between the college and the town square. She still is a member of the First Presbyterian Church in Wooster which her parents help build.Once a doctor, always a doctor. Her hobby still is reading medical Journals to keep up with what's going on and what’s expected. A special interest is photography. She is a member of the American College of Physicians, Americ an Society of Internal Medicine and Alpha Omega, the national medical honor society. Why did she choose Xenia as the place to make her home and practice? Her answer is simple and to the point. It was not too different from her hometown. She quickly came to love the community. And, Ames firmly believes she had a wonderful staff. Two of them — John Sher-er, a laboratory technician, and Barbara Tobias, a registered nurse — were with her more than 20 years. She contends she could not have found “nicer patients” anywhere. When she was closing her office on North Monroe she was amazed at the number of patient records that had accumulated. In fact, she won’t even hazard a guess on how many patients she cared for in a practice that lasted more than hall' a century.
