ms W'Mark 65th AnniversaryMore than 200 guests attended the open house held in celebration of the 65th wedding anniversary of Harold and Estelle Hardy of 36 Broad St., Hollis. The honor couple also received congratulatory messages from President and Mrs. Jimmy Carter.The event was held last Sunday in the Hardy Parish Hall of the Congregational Church of Hollis, and was hosted by the couple’s five children, Dorothy Hardy Twitchell of Hollis, Ruth Hardy Seifert of Pepperell, Mass., Elwin Hardy of Hollis, Ernest Hardy of Ithaca, N.Y., and Eleanor Hardy Whittemore of Hollis.Two great granddaughters, Cassie Lates and Marlyn Miller presented the guest book.The Hardys were married Sept. 10, 1913, at the home of her parents. Their attendants were Louise Hardy, sister of the groom, and Perley A. Foster of Claremont, a University of New Hampshire ‘chum.’The couple has resided at 36 Broad St., home since their marriage. Mr. Hardy joined his father in the dairy business under the name of Charles E. Hardy Son after his marriage; later, the family discontinued the dairy business and incorporated as the Brookdale Fruit Farm,Both husband and wife have always been active members of the Congregational Church ofHollis. Mr. Hardy is a deacon emeritus, a former master of the Hollis Grange and was a charter member of the County Farm Bureau. He also served as the first president of the Hollis Historical Society and was an active member of many town committees.Mrs. Hardy has been a staunch supporter of the County Extension Services, and hosted the first extension meeting in Hollis. She is a former longtime member of the Hollis Woman's Club; is a member of the Hollis Grange and Ladies Reading and Charitable Society. She continues in the sewing projects of the society. Her lifetime hobby of making the hand-hooked rugs which decorate her home instigated the Hollis rug group which has been meeting regularly every Wednesday for more than 20 years
