SCHOOL CORNER STONE LAID.!Ceremony at Terre Haute End# Two Year# of Litigation.TERRE HAUTE. Ind.. Sept. 8. — Two years of bitter litigation was ended today with the laying of the corner stone of the new Garfield High School building, and the event attracted n lorge crowd of citizens. Dr. Edward Ward, head of the department of economics of the University of Wisconsin, delivered the principal address. Dr. Ward spoke on the subject of The School as ft Social Center. The speaker conveyed the thought that school butldlng9 used as the meeting pluces for neighborhood gatherings would eventually be a Temedy for the social and political evils of the times. Charles A. Greathouse, state superintendent of public Instruction; Prof. W. H. Wiley, for forty years super* Intendent of Terre Haute public schools, end Mrs. S. C. stimscn. trustee-elect of the schools, made brief talks.
