New Fire Steamer.—A special meeting of Council was held Wednesday to consider the buying of a new lire steamer, at which seven of the eight members were present. A number of prominent citizens were also present, and all expressed themselves as favorable to the extension of our fire protection. A number of speeches were made and conoiderable discussion had after which the following resolution was adopted:Jl .'Qlct l. That a new tire ongi*e be purchased for the lire department.*The ayes and nays on the resolution being called resulted as follows : Ayes, Messrs. Boehm cr, Kallamith, Miller Ralston, Tegenkamp, Walsh and Weiblc. Nays, none.After the adoption of the above a resolution was adopted instructing the Mayor and Clerk to procure a legal opinion on the legality of issuing j certificates of debt. Council then adjourned to meet Tuesday evening,Sept 7th.
