oujn I vii*Tuesday evening Council met, andafter transacting the regular business, appointed a committee consisting of ; chief of Fire Department Kallsraith, City Clerk Ostendorf, and HermanRicker to proceed to Cincinnati andnegotiate the purchase of a steamer and appurtenances. It is probable that by the time of our next issue the new steamer will be here. The Ahrens appears to be the favorite with the committee, as it is claimed to be less complicated and more durable than any other. We are glad to see this, it is a move in the right direction, and we hope it will be followed until our lire protection is as proficient as our varied interests demand. All the manufactories from which wo as a town draw life are of an infiaromablc nature and should be guarded by as good a lire department as we can get.A committee from the Independent Hook Ladder Company appearedand announced that the company hadchanged its name to the “Delphos Hook A Ladder Company,'’and offeredto turn over $250 in cash and subscriptions, and asking to be admitted into the Delphos Fire Department. This matter was referred to the Fire Committee, and it is very probable that at the next meeting of Council action will be taken toward adding enough to what the Company turn oyer to get them a good substantial apparatus.
