Seventeenth Street Largestof Three Institutions Maintained Here! Three negro schools, employing 21 teachers, are maintained for education of Anniston's colored children.The Seventeenth Street School is the largest of these institutions and its classes go through the Junior high school grades. South Highland Highland School Is for elementary education only and the one-teacherschool at Union Hill has only threejrades.H. C. Hopkins Is principal of theSeventeenth Street School. Otherteachers are Elsie H. Burton, MaePrances Teague, Annie Underwood, Charles M Crawford. Helen H. Jackson. Marguerite C.- Edwards. Gertrude Wright, Evelyn Dodson,Lillian Wf Foreman, Mary S. King, Ida Cooper Dodson. Maggie L.Thomas and Pearl W. Martin, allresidents of Anniston. Teachers in the South Highland High School are Ncna Zanders, Annie S. Rivers, Carol B. Moses, Carrie H. Branch,Grace Wf. Alexander and Mattie R-Trammell, all of Anniston. Emma W. Roe, Anniston, teaches at Union Hall. .ยง1The new $62,000 modern fire-proof colored school building will be located at Fourteenth Street and Cobb Avenue. It is not expected to be in use this year, but when it is finished the congestion at Seventeenth Street will be greatly relieved, officials stated.
