In Berlin tourney finals—Joe's Citgo takes titleBERLIN—Joe’s Citgo, the regular season and playoff champion of the Berlin Men’s Softball League, capped off the campaign with success int he Berlin Invitational Tournament Saturday night.Unloading a 19-hit barrage, which featured two home runs by Donald Reid and a bases-loaded shot by Jerry Weathersby, the Joe’s Citgo team overpowered Ryan in the finals, 17-3.Ryan had edged Jennings Fence, 8-7, earlier in the evening to earn a spot in the title clash.Don Reid, who had belted two homers early ir. the contest, was walked intentionally in the fourth inning to load the bases, and then Weathersby promptly cleared them with a blast across the road.Joe’s Citgo scored runs in every inning, including four in the first, second and fourth.ritz captures#•gold medalSpitz, the “old man” of the group at 22 and competing in his last race, swam the butterfly leg on the winning men’s 400-meter medley relay, which this time was anchored by Jerry Heidenreich of Dallas, Texas.
