Golden Wedding. One of the rarest and most pleasant occurrences took place last Monday evening at the home of Mr. and Mrs, W. D. Evans in the southern part of the city. It wasthe fiftieth anniversary of their wedding, and relatives from far and near came to tender congratulations. The children and grandchildren were all present except one grandchild. Mr. Evans, on September 3, 1844, was married to Amanda Alley in the brick house near Vernon, the home of the late T. C. Jones, by Kev. Daniel Latti-more. Two of the guests who were present at that ceremony were onhand Monday last to offer congratulations. Eight children have beenborn to Mr. and Mrs. Evans, four• -of whom are still living, and, like themselves, happily married. Mr. Evans and wife were charter members of the Presbyterian church, of this city, and he served it as Trustee for a number of .jears. Both have given the church their kindest care and support from its earliest days to the present, and the kindest and heartiest congratulations of the church go out to the aged and happy couple at this time. Few coupleB reach the golden milestone of wedded life, and very happy are they to whom this privilege is given when their years have been spent in the paths of righteousness. For Mr. and Mrs. Evans the friends left substantial golden remembrances and more golden love.
