'Demo' Derby Slated Sunday At ThompsonThompson — A triple header of auto racing thrills is on tap at the Thompson Speedway, off route 193, Thompson, Ct., on Sunday night as the regular program of modified stock car racing (50 lap feature) and Tiger Late Model stock car racing (15 lap feature is capped by a grinding Demolition DerbyWith the return to form of the popular Ed Flemke and the late season rush to the winners circle by Smokey Bout well, the Competition is fierce in the modified division. Add to these two top drivers, Carl “Bugs” Stevens and Fred Desarro and you can see high speed competition throughout the fifty lap main.The Tiger late model cars are on the increase as 25 to 30 of these daring young menof the win over the five-eighth mile course.Following this portion of the program, motor mayhem will take over the speedway. At least twenty-five cars will take places in the demolition derby. The men behind the wheel have but one object in mind, destroy the other cars. This process of elimination will go on until only one car is left running and he will take home the gold.Smashing and crashing their way around the infield part of the speedway set aside for this destruction, car after car will be ripped apart in grinding crashes. No holds barred, destroy the opponent is all that is paramount in the minds of the hardy men that will take to the wheel.All the action starts promptly 7 30 p.m.
