■ Airs. Douglas Wem-mer Passes Away.JACKSONVILLE. Sept. 2.—Mrs. Susan Draper Wfmmer, 6^, wifeof Douglas Wemmer, succumbed to typhoid fever at their homo here Wednesday evening, September 1, a? 7 o'clock, after an illness of about c) v» n days. Since* the beginning of her illness Mrs. Wem-mer grew steadily worse until it was decided to remove her to a hospital. The Wnlburn ambulance was w ait in g at the door when she died.Mrs. Wemmer, a long time real* dent, was a community builder, being always Interested in the welfare thereof and a staunch member of the local Methodist church, also belonging to the various organizations of this community. •Shortly before her illness she drove to the country nt a late hour to attend her seriously ill sister. The sister recovered.The Wt mine rs had no children but adopted two boys. Walter, the eldest foster son, is now about 22 years of age, being crippled since the age of three years. Draper, the younger child, is eight years old, having be* n adopted by the Wem-mers at the ag** of six months, nt the death of Uis parents who were Loth victims of the flu during the World war. The child's father, John Draper, was a broth* r of ^lars. Wfmmer. He and his wife Wd • 1 h few hours apart In the home, now occupied by the H’emmsrs. Mrs. Wemmer was known as the Good Samaritan in this community as she always though*, and did for the welfare of others. Mr. Draper ifcet* husband* was injured in the coal n ine several years ago, rendering him almost helpless, and with the passing of his wife, he is left in a sad plight. I he two foster sons have never known any other mother. Mrs. Draper was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Charles Draper, and was born In this vicinity on October 2. 1S76. Besides her husband and two sons. she leaves two brothers, Henry and Lewis Draper,amd two sisters, all residing near by.
