On Sept. 2nd Buffalo wero met on Gpprus Hills, and rations improved, but the grass continued poor, the night and mornings became cold and frost, with storms of rain and sloet; the horses suffered sovorely. Fair pasturage was found in the neighbourhood of Threo liuto Mountains, whither Col. French diverged some 70 miles. American whiskey sellers had been in the quarter, but decamped across the border. Deputy Commissioner McLeod, with a largo detachment, will winter at the trading post known as the Whuopup, at the junction of the Arrow and iiellv rivers, where there is good pasture and plenty of coal, 'ihe remainder of the force commenced to march eastward to fort Ellice on the 27th, where preparations arc being made for them. The health of the men is excellent,but many horsca hare died. The supply, however, has been made up on the territory.
