Childhood friends celebrate 50 years of marriageNASHUA - Byam and Miriam (Jeffries) Whitney Jr. of Nashua celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary on Oct.20.They were married in the First Parish Unitarian Church in Milton, Mass., on Oct. 20, 1956. The Whitneys are enjoying their retirement in New Hampshire with their three daughters, Laura Fidone of Amherst, Gwendolyn D’Amico of Nashua and Heather Whitney, who lives in Massachusetts and visits them frequently.Their four grandchildren, two boys and two girls ages 10-16, live in Nashua and Massachusetts.Byam Whitney, known as “Bing,” enjoys reading, relaxing, singing, getting together with friends and family, and playing the bagpipes. Miriam Whitney, nicknamed “Mim,” enjoys the beauty of New Hampshire, reading, walking their dog Duncan, and getting together with friends and family-Miriam Whitney graduated from Briarcliff (N.Y.) Junior College and Wheelock College in Boston. Byam Whitney graduated from Harvard Universityin Cambridge, Mass.They grew up in Milton, Mass., and remained in their hometown for 74 years before moving to Nashua.
