FALLS VILLAGEMr. and Mrs. Shelden Dean were married 50 years ago, Oct. 23, 1864.I Mr. Dean is u veteran of the Civil War of the 7th Connecticut volunteers, they celebrated the day by having a family 1 gathering—Mrs. Minnie Bailey, of East Canaan aud daughter Mildred, also her granddaughter, Florence Garfield; Mr. aud Mrs. Jason Gordon, of Sheffield, Mass., Sirs. Lena Bubcock, Miss Mury Babcock, Mrs. Etta Hillyer aud Charles Dean, a sou, wore percent. Among the presents was $3.60 in gold, handbag, pocket book, bushel potatoes, sum of money, Japanese teapot, doiley. The guests wero served with a • chicken dinner uud every good thing too numerous to mention. Mr. uud Mrs. Dean have only two great-grandchildren, Florence Garfield aud Alouz^ Garfield, children of Mr. James Garfield, who married Miss Grace Bui ley, now deceased. Mr aud Mrs. Dean were mar-riod in Huntsville, 60 years ago ami ; three of the guests were present at their i wedding, Mrs. Leuu Babcock, Mrs. Etta Hillyer, Miss Mary Babcock. Mr. Dean served tliree years in war aud has a fine record as a good soldier. He was in great many battles and escaped with only the loss of one finger.
