Ger-vaae, well known and highly esteemed residents of Brook-, field, were taken by complete surprise Oct. 9, in their home at 9414 Ogden ave„ when a group of 65 relatives and close friends arrived en masse, at 4 p.m., to extend felicitations in advance of their 25th weddingi anniversary, which occured Oct.'i * —•The gala event, which had hecn planned and arranged for by Sam Gervase and his wife, Barhara, of Brookfield, son and daughter-in-law of the “bewildered couple, Mr. and Mrs. Gail Schleitwiler, their daughter and son-in-law, of 4300 Arthur ave.. also of Brookfield, and Mr. and Mrs. George Kiatknwski, the latter being a sister of Mrs. George C. Gervase, of 3433 Austin ave., Cicero.A hot and cold buffet supper was served in the new' dining room of the Gervase restaurant, after which the honored couple . wore presented with lavish gifts of silver.A pleasurable feature, which contributed greatly to the “sur-t-nse was the presence of a large group of relatives of the couple, who had arrived in Brookfield from Coal City, 111. and Clinton. Wis.Those from away included: Mr. and Mrs. Sam Gervase. the , former a brother of George C. Gervase; Mr. and .Mrs. Sam Ger--vase III. a niece and nephew; Mr.. and Mrs. Tom Bretto, the latter, a sister of George C. Gervase. and their two daughters, Suzanne and Charlotte Bretto; Mr. and Mrs. Jasper Vitale, Mr. and Mrs. Nick Brancato and Miss Georgia Gervase, the last three ladies being sisters of the groorrt of 25 years, all of Coal 1 City, III. Mr. and Mrs. Sam ‘ Azzarello. the former a brother of Mrs. George C. Gervase, and Mrs. Leonard Azzarello. of Clinton. Wis. Leonard Azzarello. an-' other brother of Mrs. Gervase is in the I S service.The silver anniversary couple observed the occasion in a beautiful and dignified manner Oct. 12 by attending their anniversary mass in St. Barbara’s church, during’ which time they repeated their wedding vows and the groom of 25 years presented his bride of. 25 years with a new wedding ring. The Reverend Fr. Bennett, the new pastor at St. John of the Cross congregation. in Western 'Springs, who had performed the original ceremony 25 years ago, in St. Francis Xavier church in La Grange, was unable to officiate at the anniversary mass. The-Reverend Fr.
