THE OTTAWA CAMPUSFour Departmental Clubs HaveFirst Fall Meetings, ElectionsFour OU departmental clubs met on Wednesday, Oct. 19 in the first meeting of the year. Some of the clubs had organizational meetings and elected officers while others initiated new members or had informal get-togethers. Clubs which met were: Biology Club, Home EconomicsClub, Mathematics - Physics Club, and Spanish Club. Biology Club MeetsThe Biology Club had its first meeting on Oct. 19, at which time the program for the coming year was outlined.At last year’s picnic the following were elected as its officers: Chris Holman, president; Joe Henning, vice president; Cherie Derks, sec-treas.; and Jim Harvey, reporter. At the Wednesday meeting the constitution was changed so that more persons interested in joining the club may become eligible. It was also votedthat members of the club beassessed 50 cents dues for the year.Home Ec Club Has InitiationThe Home Economics club■had a formal initiation of new members at its meeting lastWednesday. Members initiated were: Carol Cunningham, Jan Snyder, Carolyn Moberly, Dee Tyler, Kathy Boys, and Pat Barnes.Club officers who participated in the initiation were: Myra Scott president; Bonnie Collier, secretary; Jody Roush, treasurer; and Edie Bear, historian.Mathematics-Physics Club Elects OfficersAt the meeting of the Mathe-matics-Physics Club the following officers were elected: Wayne Koons, president; Ed Waters, vice president; and Gene Hardinger, secretary-treasurer.At this meeting club members took the telescope out and observed the multiple star, Epsilon Lyrae; the ring nebula in Lyrae; and the double star cluster in Perseus.Spanish Club Elects OfficersEC Centro Panamericano,OU Spanish Club, held its opening meeting last Wed. night, Oct. 19. Faculty sponsor Nellie Buchanan presided as the club elected officers and heard Dick Chartier, OUspeech instructor tell of his trip from Uruguay to the U.S.A.this summer. Mr. Chartier returned from Uruguay, where he had been serving as pastor of a Methodist Church.Elected as officers of the club were Jackie Rosenbaum, president; Joanne Whiteman, vice-president; Carolyn Cash,secretary; Rhoda Rudd, report-JOU Players RehearserJ
