This is one of Anita’s best institutions a rid is becoming more popular with the people every day. as is shown by the number who visit the library to get the books. The whole credit for the Library in Anita is due the ladies of the Anita Literary Club. It lias been by their untiring efforts that, the library has grown to what it is, and it will he by thetr work that the library will grow the coming year the way it will. When the library was started a little over a year ago, 150 was the number of books wlilch constituted it, and today they have 7!5, making an in* .crease of 575 books, which is a wonderful growth for the first year. Besides this they are a member of a traveling library and receive new books every' three montlis. On an average they .have purchased 75 new’ fiction and juvenile books every month; they have .also plaeed in this library a set of In- j ternational Encyclopedia of 22 vol-1 nines; American Statesman Series of .32 volumes; the History of American People by Woodrow Wilson in 5 volumes; and U volumes of Robert Louis Stevenson. The money which bought these books was raised through benefits given by the kindness of the management of the motion picture shows, Kensington, a cantata and a benefit play by the Anita Dramatic Club. The Anita Commercial Club also deserves thanks for the donation ofl .screens for the windows and door. B,, J. Blanchard, Anita's ice cream man, furnished ice all summer for the watr •er, which was much ,appreciated by • .tjhpsu.who visited'the’library. and restroom. The library is open two days every Week,1 on Wednesdays and Saturdays 5 from 3 to 5, P. M. and 7 to'9, i\ M.,, .at which time all who are holding yearly tickets, which cost $1.00, can .get books, or any one else caring for books can get same by paying 5 cents for use of same. All in all,the library is a permanent thing for Anita. It is here to stay, and the hopes of those interested is that a larger showing can be shown next year over this, than was shown this over the beginning, and with the encouragement which it should receive from every one it will. The library has just added a new list of books, the names of which, together with the author follow:Tbeir Yesterdays—Wright.Christopher—Richard Price. At the Foot of the Rainbow—Gene Stratton Porter.A Spinner in the Sun—Reed. At the Sign of the Jack O'Lantern —Myrtle Reed.'
