Virginia city. Oct. 21.- During the past week tlie following have signed their names to the register in the Virginia City publle museum:Alexander Stewart, Yellowstone;Mr. and Mrs. A. W. Robert, Seth A. Robert, Whitehall; Mary Hoerning, Mr and Mrs. L. L. Bell, Mr. and Mrs. William Kenison. Frank Elluman, Eddie Hoerning. N. F. Fash, Ethel II. Bell, Edward Kenison. Dillon; Mrs. ,1. F. Beardsley, Laurin; Mrs. C. E. Bushnell, Butte; Mrs. Camille Van Slette. Cameron; James Ernslie, Hugh McLean. Virginia City; Mrs. E. W. Davis, E. W. Davis, Springfield. Ohio.William Taylor of Huby, known widely throughout the state as “The Alder Oulrh Kid, was In Virginia City Thursday and while here related a little of hi^9i istory to a friend.He and his^win sister, who became the wife of Sam B. Paige of Aider, were horn in a tent In Indian territory on April 26. 1852. His father was a contractor and at that time was building houses for the Indians, under agovernment contract, in that country.When the kid was 15 months old his parents removed to the territory of Idaho, now Montana, hut were driven hack as far as Utah by Indians, his father being captured at one time and tied to a stake, but the chief ordered his release. Mr. Taylor rame to Abler gulch In the spring of JKK4 and has resided here ever since that time. J]e claims to hethe only real pioneer in this portion of the West, having been In this country nine years before gold was discovered at either Bannack or Virginia City. He worked In the placer diggings here when only about 12 years old. and was employed bv one of the% largest operating companies in the camp as watchman of its sluice boxes. He Is now the owner of oneof the finest ranches In the Bid ’• valley and Is one of the * nunty's stan-tlal men. Mr. Taylor also has -he honor of being related, in direct line, to President, Zachary Taylor.
