Resident celebrates birthdayIrene Leigh turns 90Irene Grace (Fee) Leigh, will be celebrating her 90th birthday on October 18.Irene was born in Wetaskiwin on October 18, 1906.L'•Ir*Irene LeighShe was a gifted teacher and, at one time, was Principal of aschool in Wetaskiwin. She was highly rated by school superintendents.Irene was also the author of several reference books for the assistance of teachers of the Grade Two level of students in such subjects as Art, Music and Social Studies. The books were published by a Saskatchewan firm and used by many teachers in both Saskatchewan and Alberta.She was also an excellent horseman, and in both summer and winter i^de her horse, Nitchi (given to her by her uncle Alfred), to enable her to get to several country schools where she taught.
