50th wedding anniversaryFriday, October 10, 1986, Sam and Hazel Strand celebrated 50 years of marriage with a tea at the Swan Valley Lodge. They were married on a beautiful day by Rev. Charles Smith in the Baptist Manse in Swan River.Sam and Hazel have two children: Ethel Watts of Swan River and Gordon of Winfield. B.C. There aretwo grandchildren - Carl Watts of Winnipeg and Lorelie Strand of Winfield, B.C.Sam and Hazel farmed just north of Swan River from their marriage until his retirment. Poor health in 1985 necessitated Sam's hospitalization. At that time Hazel moved to her suite in town. Sam now resides at the Swan Valley Lodge.
