C.E. Herricks Honored ;On Golden AnniversaryA unique musical program featuring I appropriate song hits spanning half a century brought back many memories to , Mr. and Mrs. C. E. Herrick of Shenandoah who came home to celebrate their golden, wedding in the town where they exchanged marriage vows fifty years ago.A throng of relatives and friends made f during the years Mr. Herrick was engaged in educational work, attended the reception held Sunday, Oct. S at the Christian ] Church in Bridgewater. Hosting the event were the couple’s three children, Mr. and Mrs. Aubrey Herrick of Waterloo; Mr. and Mrs. Oburn Herrick of Des Moines; and Mr. and Mrs. Duane (Patsy) Zuck of * Shenandoah.Miss Nellie Wyllie and Earl C. Herrick exchanged marriage vows at high noon Dec. 6. 1925 at the home of uncle Rev. George Herrick who lived just two blocks east of the present Christian Church. Attending the couple were brother James Herrick and sister Bessie Wyllie. They established their first home on the County Line just south of the Albert Raasch farm which was referred to as the preacher'shouse, as it had been once used as a♦parsonage for a minister of a countrychurch. Here they lived for two years white Mr. Herrick taught school at Massena No.b.In the intervening years Mr. Herrick was a teacher and administrator in Adair, Audubon, Cass, Clinton and Page counties until he retired in 1969 after 47 years in the educational field.They lived in Clinton for 25 years before selling their home there, to spend the past five winters in a mobile home in Mesa, ( Ariz. In July of this year they bought a home in Shenandoah to be near their daughter who lives there. However they still hope to go back to the valley of the Blessed Sun this winter.The family circle has grown to include eight grandchildren and one great grandson, qll of whom with their parents were present at the golden wedding celebration.After a delightful afternoon mingling with home folks and many friends, the guests reluctantly dispersed to return to their respective homes, wishing Mr. and Mrs. Herrick many happy returns of the day.California CallersMr. and Mrs. Richard McMorran of Ramona, Calif, and her sister Mrs. Bud Lewis and husband of Julian arrived here Sunday evening, Oct. 5, at the home of the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs, Don McMorran and family and other relatives and friends. •Mrs. Marcus Cain of Santa Barbara,
