St. James Ch urch%HAMMON D--Greater St. James AME Church in Hammond will celebrate its 103rd year of existence at 11 a.m. Sunday with a service conducted by the pastor, the Rev. E. Nelson. The original church, built in 1867 on land donated by Charles Emery Cate, was located next to the Phillips 66 service station on E. Thomas St., now a vacant lot. The present church was built in 1925 at 311 E. Michigan. There are 175 members. Mrs. Eliza Johnson, the great-granddaughter of Charles Daggs, the founder, will also speak. Everyone is welcome.
