Weather 5For Homecoming *A more pleasant day for Home-coming could Hardly have been \chosen, wcatherwisc, any time \during the spring, summer, or 1fall, even if it eouid have been £tailor made, as sunny skies and (pleasant temperatures of 80 degrees iheltl sway -here Friday. *The football game, Friday night, :was played in 70-degree temperatures and the Pirates were just as warm as the weather as they turned in a 53-0 win over Marathon.Homecoming activities began Thurrday evening with a large crowd at the FHA barbecue supper and pep rally at Evergreenpark. .The king and queen coronation 'ceremonies were held after the rally in the school gym. Lorraine !3-Iankey and Chuck Moran were chosen 1966 queen and king. ;While the perfect weather pro- “bably kept many of the menfolks 'home combining a good sized crowd was on hand to see a very impressive parade. Graetlinger :Boy Scouts formed the color -guard for the parade followed by a sharp High school marching band. The floats this year showed some remarkable workmanship and originality and the grade students furnished some interesting and clever individual themes.With the .Pirates enjoying a 33-0 halflime lead the marching band gave another fine performance at the intermission. The floats and the .homecoming queen and her attendants were presented to the gocd-sized crowd at halftime. The queen’s attendants included Cindy Ilerslefi. Pam Petersen. ShirleySampson and Vickie Wolfe. The king’s attendants included Paul Bisgard, Dan Brown, Ben Ilankeyand Dean Petersen.The junior class float, a large display of ship and lighthouse, entitled, One If By Land, Two If By Sea, Pirates Are Bound for Victory, was awarded first place in extremely keen competition for the top spots.The second place float award went to the senior float, We’ve Got The Right Combination; and the sophomore and freshmanfloats tied for third place. The sophomore class float's theme was . We’ll Get Them In The End and the freshman float theme was Their Time’s Run Out.The winners in the elementary division of the parade, in theorder of placintgs:•Bikes; Randy Struthers, rimMi ilea and Gerald Studer.Doll buggies and wagons; Linda Lammers and Susan Osher; Joan Wikert, and Jimmy Gracttinger.Novelties; Groups, Billy Wikert, Steve (Moran, Dale Schnell and Rowdy Iuhn; Billy Murray, Greg Petersen and Jody Janssen; ana David Reitz and Kim Hewlett.Home-cominig - activities closed out with a dance in the schoolgym.
