*John W. Gummos Celebrate Golden Wedding DayA double wedding was the order of the day, Oct. 17, 1903, when Miss Carrie Nestlerode and John W. Gummo, and Miss Sue Yarnell and James Nestlerode all of Nittany Valley were married.The ceremony was performed in the' Methodist parsonage at Salona by the Rev. Henry Flanagan.Now 50 years later, Mr. and Mrs. John W. Gummo of Mill Hall R. D. will be celebrating their golden wedding anniversary this Saturday.Brother* Sister MarryTurning the pages of their life together takes them back to the day they were married. Following the double ring ceremony, the two couples returned to Liz-ardville to make their home.| They were met there by the Mill Hall band which serenaded them in the style of the day.Mrs. Nestlerode, whose husband. is deceased, makes sher home with her only child and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Guy Romig of Salona. She plans, to spend Saturday .with the Gummos.At the time of their marriage, Mr. Gummo was employed at the axe factory in Mill Hall. Because he is an outdoor-man and a lover of nature he continued in this line of work and farmed their present land since 1922.Mrs. Gummo has been a’Sunday school teacher since her teen-age days, attending the Methodist Church and Sunday School at Salona before her marriage. She did a double duty by teaching Sunday. School in the- afternoon at the Cedar Springs union church.St. Paul’s Lutheran Church adjoins the Guirimo home. Here for 26 years Mrs. Gummo was a Sunday School teacher and also treasurer of the school. They are both regular church-goers.Open House SaturdayThree children, Mrs. T. E. Snyder of Fairpoint, Albert Gummo of Hatboro, and Harold Gummo of Lamar, have given the Gummo residence a cheerful and homey atmosphere. There are three grandchildren in the family, Allan Ross Gummo and John Gummo of Hatboro, and Trudy Gummo of Lamar.Mr. Gummo who is 73, and his wife who is 71, will receive guests! at an open house Saturday after-! noon, 1 to 4 and in the evening 6 to 9. Their children, who will entertain for them, have issued no invitations for the celebration. AH friends and relatives will be welcome.
