Fiftieth Wedding Anniversary.Under the direction of David Pritchard of Spiceland, Cynthia Mitchell contributed the following lines in commemoration of the marriage of JosiahWinslow and Rachel Patterson at Walnut Ridge, 50 years ags Sept. 23rd. David Pint chard was a waiter at the wedding. 'AFifty year*—how Ion* ago And yet it seems but yesterday Since we wended our happy way. «Past sedge and brook, o’er hilltop fray. To the old church with portals low.On that sweet September mom A Stalwart Youth and Maiden fair Crossed its threshold with joyous air. .With loved ones who had gathered there To youth and maid new hopes were• [bom.For beneath the roof, moss grown.A solemn vow he made for life To take her for his Queen—his wife; And she. though shy, mid blushes rife. As solemnly claimed him her own.Mem’ry brings it back again.I see the bridegroom and the bride.A fair maid, and 1. near their side And all the guests, as out all glide.With blessings and a low Amen.You’ve walked through life hand in hand You’ve had your share of jey and tears As you have drifted down the years Mid flower blooms, and frost that sears. Toward that sweet and better Land.The makl that ttood by my aide Now claims another as her King.She has had true joy. and the sting That sorrow in this life must bring; And so have I. and my sweet bride.Fifty years havs come and past,But we are here, dear friends, today. To greet you in our cheeriest way:In memory with spirits gayLet's live again the dear, dear past.When Hfe was fweet with loves young dream;Just forget that we’re stooped and old. That locks of jet and brown and gold Are white ae snow drifts on the wold.
