Pit bulls kill Lubbock womanLUBBOCK, Texas — A disabled woman taking care of two pit bulls was killed by the animals Thursday morning. Her mauled body was discovered later in the day by her sister-in-law.Aurora Gonzales, 64, was foundaround 1:30 p.m. by Janine Martinez, her sister-in-law and next-door neighbor. The attack was ,r thought to have occurred earlier In the day.“When I came out, 1 saw the dogs on the other side (of the yard), and she was lying on the ground/’ Ms. Martinez said. “That’s when 1 ran into the house {and called 911).’’Ms. Gonzales suffered bites to her head and legs, Lubbock County sheriffs deputies said. Authorities shot and killed the dogs after the continued to growl and snap at emergency personnel.Ms. Gonzales lived in a trailer on a lot north of Lubbock, near the city’s airport. The pit bulls lived in a ramshackle doghouse and usually were kept chained up, relatives said.Associated Press
