William Donovans feted on silver anniversaryA surprise observance for the 25th wedding anniversary ofMr. and Mrs. William Donovan was held on Sept. 29 in the parish house of the Christ United Methodist Church.The event was hosted by the couple’s daughters, Cynthia and Karen, with approximately 100 friends and relatives attending. A silver guest book was presented to the couple. Mrs. Donovan received a corsage of miniature chrysanthemums in fall shades and her husband was presented with a white carnation boutonniere.A lovely centerpiece of chrysanthemums and daisies in fall shades surrounded an anniversary candle which was brought from Germany byKaren in April. White candles trimmed with fall flowers werealso used in tne decorations. A three-tier cake trimmed with roses in fall shades and topped with four large silver bells was made by Mrs. Mary Phipps. Mrs. Phipps also made the couple’s wedding cake.Out-of-town guests attended from Oil City, Emlenton, Kennerdell. East Brady, Utica, Warren and Burbank, Calif.William Donovan and Fannie Weaver were united in marriage on Sept. 30, 1949 by the Rev Harold Loveless in the Grace Evangelical Church of Rocky Grove. They were attended by Miss Anna Belle Kinnear and Charles Donovan.Aides at the party were the Misses Soni and Jenneen Netzler, Miss Roberta Shaffer, Miss Diane Witherup, Mrs. Robert Johnson, Mrs. Robert Gustafson and Miss Mary Fink.
