The carillon, given in memory of Alvin Jent/en. will be dedicated Sunday.New Carillon for Arcadia ChurchARCADIA — On a clear day. if you live within a four or five mile radius of Arcadia, you may be able to hear the sound of musicThe bell ringing selections are broadcast from a * MagneBell II carillon, newly installed at Zion Lutheran Church hereThe Schulmerich system, similar to one installed at the Presbyterian Church of Carroll, is composed of a set of two clock-control led magnetic tape players with an audio-amplification system The tape system is located in the ground level office of the church pastor, the Kev L W Sawhill and the amplifiers have been installed along side the one-ton bell in the 52-year-old church tower The equipment was installed by Schulmerich Carillons. Inc.. Sellersville. PaThe carillon was donated in memory of a life time Zion Lutheran Church member. Alvin Jent/en by his wifeNorma and children Jimrm and Jeanne Jent/en Jent/en was a bell ringer there for close to 15 years and according to Kev Sawhill. the bell will still toll during services ’ He always loved the bells Mrs Jent/en said about the gift, “and I thought it would Im* one that will be there for a lifetime Although the carillon will not be dedicated until this Sunday during the 10 a m service, the instrument began sending resounding peals through the countryside earlier this month It is programmed to play on weekdays at 9 JO a rn and 12 JO p m and 5 JO pm On Sundays the chimes will call parishioners to worship at 9 50 a m and will play again at 11 JO a m and Op m Mrs Jentzen still lives on the family farm, hair miles south of Arcadia, and listens for the chimes “On a quiet day we can hear them real fine, she said
