We attended ami par ticlpated In the ward meeting at Opelousas. We represent that the lending idea in this campaign, uncompromising opposition to Kadi ealism. to the Kel'oggusurpation and to it.- sur porters, and that the joint call of our two parish committees was Intended to harmonize and unify the Democratic and White League organization- which tocether represent the opi*ositlnn to the Kellogg government. This spirit of unity inspired the member* of both parlies in the different ward elections throughout tin* parish as tarns our Intoi matlon exiemls. In this spirit we came to the polls on the mb nisi., at ope-lousNn fully determined to vote for good and true men ot both parties not *u-peetmg that .mvinrtifa designed running a ticket exclusively n the interest of auy one party organization. To our surprise and moitiflentlon wc discovered 11 eomblnation had been formed previously, for the spec I tie purpo-eof defeating any representation of t lie White League in 1 he convention from tilts ward. The said combination consisted of tin* following elements: First, oltleluN holding commissions from Kellogg whose tenure of office depend* Upon III* good will; rteeond, members of the Republican party of the Parish of Hr Lnmlty: Thirdly. persons claiming to be Deun*-i rats who are actively opposed to the ISuton Rouge platform and tin: Joint action of the two parish committer* in calling this convention. Tlmt Through the votes of these your political riiemies a majority of the citizens of this ward who nr** the real enemies of the Kellegg usurpation ure denied representation In your body.We further represent that the -aid combination wa» sum'Mfnl through thelnstrinuentnlify mid eo-operatloii of persons not in sympathy with the present attitude of Hie white |ieoplenf i his State, and by a concentration of *urh votes upon a ticket previously and secretly prepared. We respect fully represent that un inspection •f the rally list kept and tin ballots east, will bear us out in tins statement. We further represent that at least twenty-two f not more of the votes east at said ward meeting are of the objectionable character herein ta-fore mentioned, aud that if said votes had aot been east, the White League of this ward would haw had a representation In your body, md the result different from whut it has been.Then-fore we respectfully protest ugolnst ail In- delegation claiming to have been elected at he ward t not I tug at Opelousas oiithe lUtli Inst.. miHtiiucii u« we have good reason to believe that lie said twenty-two votes were vast for these tclcgntes, aud we further ask that the White League and Democratic parties of this ward be ul milted a fair representation in your laxly, and lint tu-forv refuting this memorial to your com-nitfCeon credent in Is. wo be heard In the premise* *n the tloorof the convention.Respectfully submitted.K T Is*wit H Hannon»II Violet John I* Muddrin.H h Bailey George Pi ilfordlohn Cochran A J ThompsonVtn K Cochran Gustave Kuhule B Huyes Chat F BurrV OPosey liirutu BurraiuIh Hadden V HoyLower Bayou Ba-uf—1.
