Super Show At StaffordOn SundayPerhaps the finest auto racing and variety show held all season in the Eastern United States will be at Stafford Springs Sunday afternoon starting at 2 p.m.Jerry Cook of Rome, N.Y., and Bugsy Stevens of Reho-beth, Mass., presently running one-two in the national modified point standings, will duel on the half-mile banked track.They will also be trying to break the victory string of Smokey Boutwell of Pelham, N.H., who seems to “own” Stafford’s pavement this year.In addition to having 40 of the top drivers and cars in the east, the Stafford management has dropped children s prices to 25 cents, added sky diving and a marching bands display and, to top off the afternoon and evening, a huge fireworksdisplay.The complete show, run in conjunction with the new Stafford Springs Fair which began Thursday, is something the management hopes could be an annual affair.In addition to Cook, Stevens and Boutwell, firey Billy Greco, Bobby Santos, Ed Flemke, Gene Bergin, Ted Stack, Fred DeSarro, Wild Bill Slater and you name ‘em will be racing in addition to a large invading group from the south.Called a “Salute To The Fair,’’ area marching bands will perform prior to the fireworks display.Ample parking facilities are available, as well as soft and hard drinks and food. The photo stand is also celebrating with a season-ending sale where many pictures are going for half price.
