MR. AND MRS. MANUEL BLACK7 Children Host Anniversary Fete ,Mr. and Mrs. Manuel Black celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary at Hart Memorial F'ark at a fete given them by their children. Mrs. Sue Pirtle, Mrs. Louise English, Mrs. Euna McDaris, Harold Black, Clifford Black, Kenneth Black, all of Bakersfield, and Mrs. Brenda Smith of Santa Paula. Another child, Mrs. Ora Mae Winn of Oklahoma, was unable to attend. The couple’s ninth child, Earl I^ee, is deceased. All spouses of the host group, Merle Pirtle. doe English, Linda Black. Laveme Black and Leta Jo Black also attended. i Of the couple's 2 5 •grandchildren. 19 were there to honor their grandparents. Among them were Mr and Mrs. Dale Blevins. Danny Pir-tie and his wife, Susan; Randy English and his wife. Susan; Mrs. Benny Stephens and Vickie Black. The others were Pam English. Karen. Donald and Jimmie McDaris; Tommy, Steven, Kenneth, Clifford Wayne and Tammy Black; C4iri9ta and Deana Black and Brian Smith.Two of the couple's four | great-grandchildren, Michael 1 Blevins and Tina Stephens, at- I tended.Friends of the family who | shared in the event were Miss | Donna Crain, Larry Hollem, j Eddie Rienier and his children, Eddie, Jeff and Stacy; Mr. and Mrs. Troy Lashl^v and Mr. and Mrs. j Herman Hooper.Mrs. Black, the former Lillian Howell, met her hus- j band in church in Oklahoma. ! They were married in a Baptist church in Spiro. Okla. in September. The groom continued farming in Oklahoma as he did in his home state, Arkansas. From 1924 to 1943 they madt Oklahoma their home where eight of their nine children were born. Their last child was bom in Bakersfield in 1943 and the Blacks have made their home here since.An a’la carte dinner was served. Shades of gold com- . plimented the festive area and a two-tiered cake in pink and 1 white design served as the j centerpiece.
