Mr. and Mrs. John MeredithMarried 50 Years . . .Mr. and Mrs. John E. Meredith. 518 South 5th Street. Van-dalia, will celebrate their golden wedding anniversary on Sunday. October 12, at an open house observance in the home of a son-in-law and daughter. Mr. and Mrs. George Stom-fcaugh, 318 South 6th Street. Van-dalia. They will greet firiends and relatives between the hours of 2 and 4 p.m.Mr. and Mrs. Meredith were married in Salem on October 8. 1919 by Rev. P. H. Glotfelty. She is the former Vera Tate, daughter of the late Samuel and Lovilla Tate of Odin. Mr. Meredith is the son of the late Edward and Ella Meredith, also of Odin.The Merediths resided in Cen-tralia for several years before.moving to Shobonier, where they lived for six years. They have resided in Vandalia since 1938.For 16 years, Mr. Meredith was a maintenance employee of Ford Roofing Co. and for 12 years worked at the Vandalia Warehouse Corporation. He has continued to work as a carpenter since his retirement three years ago.Mrs. Meredith retired three years ago after 24 years’ employment at Johnson. Stephens and Shinkle Shoe Co.They are parents of four daughters. Mrs. Herold (Dorothy) Cole, Vandalia; Mrs. Jesse (Maxine) Smith. Jr.. Edwards-ville; Mrs. Charles (Glenda) Lawler. Vandalia; and Mrs. George (Jean) Stombaugh. Vandalia. They have three grandsons. four granddaughters, and three great-granddaughters.
