« Wedding AnniversaryMr. and Mrs. Bert Shedd will dbsrve their fiftieth wedding anniversary Sunday, Oct. 16, when the immediate family will honor them with a dinner at Inman's in Galesburg. *The marriage of Miss Nettie M.Abel and Bert Shedd was solemnized at the home of the bride’s parents, Mr. and Mrs. Elmer E. Abel. The ceremony was performed by Rev. A.N. Eldred, Methodist minister of Colon, an uncle of the groom. Their entire life has been spent at Tekonsha.Their two sons, Bert A. Shedd of Battle Creek and Ray E. Shedd of Okemos, together with their families, will be hosts Sunday.Both Mr. and Mrs. Shedd are graduates of the local school and the former from Michigan State university. Mrs. Shedd, a former school teacher, has been a meml% r of the various clubs and a member of the Research club since 1911, serving as president and in other offices. “ttMr. Shedd, a retired postmaster, has served the township as supervisor, clerk and treasurer. He has also been a member of the village council and the board of review,a member of the Board of Education for nine years and a retired charter member of the Lions club.* .' s i lt;Both have been active in localcivic affairs and are members of the Union church.Mr. §hedd won distinction as a football player at Michigan State university (then , MAC), . winning five varsity letters. In 1958, he was honored by Michigan State at the Golden Anniversary of the 1908 team of which he was captain. At college he was a member of the Hesperian fraternity. At present, he is vice-president of the First State Bank and has been a director for 22 years.Three of the wedding guests areliving, Elmer Abel, business manhere and brother of the bride; Mrs. Nellie Shumway of this village and Ward R.
