MlLo2tr.r-1-:oISrH!¥9iL I• fIII ni -le % _[SPECIAL TO THE TIMES]CROWN POINT, Ind., Oct. 5.—The first annual reunion of the members of the Griesel clan, who are descendants of Henry Grlesel who came to America from Germany In 1853 was held at the Lake county Fairgrounds on Sunday, October 2nd, with an attendance of over two hundred members from Benton Harbor, Lowell, Hebron, De Motte, Hammond, Rensselaer, Berwyn, 111., Ahiting, Oak Park, Chicago and C rown Point. The oldest member present, Adam Grlesel, age 82, of South Chicago, who was one of the four brothers who immigrated to America many years ago and manyof whose descendants were present at Sunday’s gathering. The otherbrothers and sisters were John Grlesel, Henry C. Grlesel, Catherine Horst. Elizabeth Horst andMartha Hllbreeht, all deceased, butwhose descendants are among those making up the Griesel clan. A most delicious dinner was served at the noon hour, the tables being set in the Art hall. Following the servinga business session was held with the naming of the first set of officers for the coming year. Being the oldest member present and being of the original Griesel family, Adam Grlesel of South Chicago was named honorary president. Miss Cora Horst was elected president; John J. Griesel, vice president; Mrs. Florette Letz. secretary; Mrs. Rose Griesel. treasurer. The program committee for next year was Louisa Pratt, Grace McCarthy and Arthur Volk.Short talks were given by Miss Cora Horst, Crown Point: Edward Griesel, South Chicago; Adam Griesel, South Chicago; Joe Martin, Crown Point; Frank Ebert, Lowell; Julius Griesel, Crown Point Carrie Westphal, Chicago; Mrs. Edith Turner, Hebron, and Otto Hilde-brandt, Crown Point.Among the members prominent in public life present was Irma Glenn Hill of Chicago, a talented organist, whose programs are broadcast over WEXR, Chicago. * £he gave a short talk. fThe afternoon was pleasantly spent In games and sports of all kinds. A baseball game with the members of the PohJplatz family, who were also enjoying a; reunion.afforded much merriment.Door prizes were given to Marjory Klukas, Lowell. Mrs. Melvin Griesel. Oak Park.
