MORTUARYMrs. George W. Arendt.Mrs. George Arendt, one of the old and respected citizens of Monmouth, passed away on Saturday evening, at 5:30 at her home 417 North C street. She has been an invalid for thirteen years but has born her suffering uncomplainingly. About a week ago she had a stroke of paralysis and from its effects she could not rally, owing to her advanced age. Heart trouble was the immediate cause of death.Matilda Mary Keefauver was born 011 March 11, 1830, near Gettysburg, Pa., and was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Daniel Keefauver. On December 27, 1855, she was united in marriage to George W. Arendt. Many years ago the couple came to Monmouth to live, but after a time returned to Pennsylvania. In 1883 the family again came to the Maple City and this has been their home ever since. Eighteen children blessed thisunion of whom the following are living: Mrs. Amanda Baxley of Iola, Kan.; Mrs. Annie Kelly, Mrs. Rose Allen, Mark A. Arendt, and GeorgeW. Arendt Jr. all of this city. Besidesthe husband three sisters and one brother are left to mourn her death— Mrs. Lamanda Kale of Denver, Pa.; Mrs. Sarah Weikert of Leavenworth, Kan.; Mrs. Carrie Brine of Ruletta, Pa.; and ITrias Keefauver.Mrs. Arendt was of a quiet and unassuming disposition. During her long life she made many friends who will extend their deepest sympathy to the bereaved family.The funeral services were hel dMonday afternoon at 2 o’clock at the residence. Dr. A. R. Morgan of the Methodist church, with which Mrs. Arendt had long been identified, officiated.
