On Friday afternoon (St. Michael and All Angels') a special service was hold at St. PqmYb, Honiton, when the reredos erected bv Mrs. Mules to the memory of her late husband, Mr. Horace Vibart Mules, and their infant son was unveiled in the presence of a large congregation. The service occupied about half-an-hour. The reredos is a representation of the Crucifixion, is of Perpendicular Gothic character, and in the main composed of richly moulded and carved, polisho^ veined alabaster. The super-altar is a massivo slab of mottled green Pyrenean marble. All the sculpture is in pure whito Castillino marble. On each side of the crucified Christ are the malefactors. A most realistic group of figures occupy the foreground at the foot of the control cross, consisting of the Blessed Virgin Mary, supported by St. John the Divine and Mary Magdalene. A view of Jerusalem in the distance forms the background on tho north side, in a canopied niche is a statue of St. Michael, and on tho south one of St. Paul. Various emblems of the Passion are carved on shields between the super-altar and the largo group, and tho two outside flanking buttresses are carried by statuos of angels with uplifted hands cut into solid alabastor. In small characters upon the south return are the following words:—To tho honour and glory of God. In loving remembrance of Horaco Vibart Mulos, of Emsborough in this parish; born August 10,1810, foil asleep April 22, 1878; and of thoir only child. Iloraco Vibart, horn Fobruary 4,1801, taken to God October 20, 1801, this rerodos is erected by Fanny, tho sorrowing wife and mother of tho above.
