Historical Society to host field tripThe Lenox Historical Society is hosting a field trip/lecture from 10:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. Saturday.Charles Flint, Berkshire County historian, and William Patriquin, co-author with Julie L. Sloan of “The Berkshire Glass Works,” will lead the hike to the site of the quartzite quarry in the town of Washington.The field trip will include viewing the foundations of the buildings that housed the quarry workers as well as a stop at the sand wash area onRoaring Brook. The casual walk is approximately 2 miles total.Participants should wear long pants, boots and bug repellent. Bring a lunch and drinks. Rain date is set for Sunday.Directions: At the end of Williams Street in Pittsfield at Burgner’s, take a right onto Kirchner Road, travel a short distance then take a right onto Washington Mountain Road.
