The marriage started out on Oct. 2,1931, with just $200.“She married me because she thought I could make her a good living,” Harry Rathbourn said. “Boy, was she fooled at first. 1 had 20 jobs those first few years.”For nine years the Rathbourns have won the “longest-married” award at the Orange County Fair, where they annually renew their vows.Their secret?“We never had a knock-down-drag-out in our marriage,” Harry Rathbourn said. “We always worked through things.” oc postThe Rathbourns' engagement photo from the 1930s.®| DID YOU KNOW?I According to the Guinness Book of Records, Lauren and David Blair of Tennessee hold the record for the most marriage vow renewals.
