Ochre River; RayShowfelt, Dick ‘Parrott and son Rickey of Grandview,Friday evening the horses weretrucked to Grandview, packswere adjusted, and everything wws readied for an early morning start. After a pancake breakfast everyone strung out singlefile. 22 riders in all.Attractions during the morning were snake dens, and a beaver dam on a small creek Stoppedat Beaver Creek for dinner of-——~^—- —ia us age Then _laxed for two hours, wlme the j *** tethered horses graced The group saw where a colony of blue heron had nested, taut the birds had “flew the coop” The riders wended theh- way along trails em* passible to motor vehicles and some even had trouble v borssea.Suppertime found the Sparks Lake a camp sipreviously as Camp 1*I he T A Burrows logging operations. Here, firewood was gathered and a hot supper of chicken noodle soup and bannock cooked on weiner sticks was enjoyed by all. Following supper the horses were groomed, watered, and staked out for the night.Explorers found relics of an old steam crawler on the lake-shore.
