Married 50 yearsMr. and Mrs. E.P. Greening were honored at a family dinner Aug. 24, on the occasion of their 50th wedding anniversary. Fifty guests attended the dinner held in the lower auditorium of theLutheran Church.Harry Greening of Dauphin,the honored couple’s son, wasmaster of ceremonies and alsogave the blessing. Another son,Paul, proposed the toast to hisparents. Harry and Paul andtheir sister, Elsie Bonkowski ofWinnipeg,' recalled theirfavorite memories while Mr. Greening’s niece, Ellie Heibert, reminisced about the years when the couple first settled on a homestead in Canada.A program followed with a number of grandchildren performing. Mrs. Emma Fingas of Inglis sang The Twenty-third Psalm. Following the dinner the guests assembled at the home of Harry and Betty Greening, son and daughter-in-law of the honored couple.Among those attending were the Greenings’ three children and their families, Max and Elsie Bonkowski, Donna and Naomi from Vauxhall, Alta., Barrie of Edmonton and Leslie-Ann Benjamin of Swift Current; Harry and Betty Greening, Danny, Holly, Tammy, Larry and Teresa of Dauphin; and Paul Greening of Saskatoon.Three sisters of Mrs. Greening attended: Mrs.Matilda Greening of Wapella, Sask., Mrs. Elsie Flatt of Moosomin, Sask., and Mrs. Olda Friedenberger of Winnipeg. Mrs. Lydia Hundt of Carman, the fourth sister, was not able to attend. Other guests were from Winnipeg, Inglis, Dauphin and Wapella.Mr. and Mrs. Greening were married in Poland Nov. 1, 1924. They came to Canada in 1927 and settled on a homestead at Meeting Lake, Sask., where they spent five years before moving to North Battleford in1932.They spent short periods in Saskatoon, Prince Albert, Maple Creek and Leader, Sask., then moved to Wapella in 1947 where they farmed until 1959. They moved to Kamsack, Sask.,that year where Mr. Greeningwas employed by Northern Petroleum. The couple retiredin June 1967 and moved to Dsunhlii.
