Georgine SchumacherMass of Christian Burial for Georgine “Jean” Schumacher, 90, Lawrence, will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday at Corpus Christi Catholic Church. Burial will be at Mount Calvary Cemetery in Lawrence.Mrs. Schumacher died Saturday, Sept. 29,2007, at her home.She was born May 16,1917, in Victoria, the daughter of Michael J. and Catherine Meier Schmidtberger.Mrs. Schumacher was a graduate of Victoria High School.She and her husband owned and operated an International Harvester dealership in Washington, Kan., for many years, where she worked as a bookkeeper. They moved to Lawrence in 1987.She married Clarence Schumacher on Au^. 0,1945, in Vincent. He died on April 8,1989.Survivors include two sons, James, Knoxville, Tenn., and John, Auburn, Ala.; three brothers, Virgil, Lawrence, Loren, New York, and Alvin, Victoria; three sisters, Alvina Clapperton, Portland, Ore., Armella Ricci, Seattle, and Janice Elliot, Oakland, Calif.; and five grandchildren.The family will receive friends from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today at Corpus Christi Catholic Church, where a rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m.The family suggests memorial contributions to Heart- of America Hospice or to Corpus Christi Catholic Church, sent in care of Warren-McElwain Mortuary.
