County jail inmate attempts suicideAn inmate in the Eau Claire County Jail tried to hang himself shortly after 2 a.m. Sunday, authorities said.Lt. David Mayer said two other inmates awoke when they heard a noise in the cellblock’s shower and found Martin Heurington, 20, of Eau Claire, hanging from a braided strip of bed sheet. They untied the ends of the rope and called the jailer.Hedrington was checked at Sacred Heart Hospital and then fought off three officers before being returned to jail. Hedrington is being held for violating probation and on charges of burglary and two thefts, Mayer said.a . . r • i i
