UNION COUNTY YOUNG POLKS IN LAMB PEELING PROGRAMFeeding of western Iambs, a 4-H project particularly suited to Union county because of its excellent production of. corn, onta, alfalfa and other feeds is being carried on this year by Wnyue Stoutenburg, Jeon Clnanflcn, Jacqueline CInasson and Mario Waterbary, all of Akron vicinity, with three pens of 16, or a total of 48 Iambs each, and Peter Van Beck, of near Hawarclen, with two pens of of lambs.In addition to the pons the members nre all feeding additional lnrabsthe couple a box and cards containing I congratulations and a purse of silver. Two large wedding cftkes served as a table centerpiece, one* being a gift:erpicfrom Mrs. Alvin Anderson und Mr. Lars Lykken. A delicious, lunch was served to 120 people. Mr. and Mrs. Emil Klemme’s friends united in wishing them many more years of Imppy life companionship. In the afternoon their son,' Levcmc, called them by phone from Ft. Acting Adjutant General, Washington, D..C., on November 23, 1944, that their son, Pvt. Glenn P. Horton, serving with a U. S. Infantry Regiment on the battle front in France, had been wounded 'in. action. The young soldier's numerous friends in this vsoinity hope for his speedy recovery. The telegram to his parents read as follows:“Regret to inform you your son was seriously wounded in notion in France, 8 November. Until new address is received, address mail to him: Pvt; Glenn P. Horton, 37673455, Hospitalized Central Postal. Division, APO 640, care Postmaster. New York, N. Y. You will be advised as reports of his condition are received.”Autos driven by August Osterthun and Melvin Rnynor collided at the Reed street and Highway 12 intersection, north of the city power plant, shortly before midnight Friday. Mr. and Mrs. Osterthun escaped injury, but Mr. Raynor suffered body bruises from contact with the steering wheel and received medical attention, but was able to be up and about the next day. In the car with Mr. Raynor was liis mother-in-law, and they were returning from a visit with his wife in Sioux City, where she is a surgical patient in a hospital. Both the. Raynor and Osterthun autos were slightly damaged in the accident, the Raynor ear being hauled to a garage for repairs. .NOTICE TO MOTORISTS!To enable the young folks to enjoy ’coasting on that portion of Main street known as the Agnes hill, the street intersections lmve been barricaded as a safety measure, and all motorists aro urged to tnko due precautions.
